2011-11-22 Ross Celtic u18s earn a great point against leaders Shamrock Rovers

New Ross Celtic u18s travelled to Enniscorthy to play leaders Shamrock Rovers last Saturday, in what turned out too be a very entertaining game dispite the low scoring. Mikey and David were optimistic going down after the lads put on a great display in their last outing against Cloughbawn. The team lined out With Cian in goal backline of Luke, Steven, Connor, Dean, a midfield of Evan, Mosey, Ryan, and James, and up top were Connor O' C and Puddin. Ross started the better of the two teams playing some good football but didnt create any clear cut chances only a couple of long range efforts that didnt trouble the keeper. After about 20 mins the game took off with Rovers playing nice football, got inside the defence forcing Cian into a good save. From the resulting goal kick Puddin took control of the ball smartly layin it to Ryan whos shot partly blocked was saved by the keeper. With Connor and Stevn, Mosey and Ryan on top in the game celtic looked like geting a goal and should have when Evan was played in only for his shot to go norrowly wide. Next up was James and his shot was saved, Then after some good work by Ryan, Evan teed up Puddin with the shot just going over the bar. Just before the break Rovers had another chane again Cian saved well. Half time nil nil. Second half saw Rovers come more into the game but Celtics defence was doing well and Cian was in top form. Rovers sould have scored on the 60 min when on the counter attack their striker broke free but Cian saved Celtics blushes with an outstanding save. Celtic made a change with David and Mosey off. Then came the blow after Celtic had created 4 or 5 more chances which we sould have taken at least one, Evan going close with a free and hitting the side net when he should have squared off to puddin. Rovers broke down the left and the resulting cross was met by the centre forward ahead of Connor and past a helpless Cian from 6yards. More changes were made with Danny in goal and Cian up top for Puddin and Willie on for Evan. Too their credit Celtic kept goin when in other games put their heads down. Their reward came in the 82nd min when Ryan who was outstanding played in Cian who was taken down [dived] inside the box, penalty. Ryan stepped up and it was 1 all. Celtic had a few efforts from Dean, Connor O'C and Cian but were let off the hook with Rovers hitting the post with Luke clearing his lines and Danny making a good save right at the end. 1-1 it finished. Good game and GREAT result. Cmon the Celts.

2011-10-23 New Ross Celtic Youth's record first win this season

New Ross Celtic v Cloughbawn 22-10-11 by Evan Marshall. This was a must win game for Celtic and they knew it. Everyone worked hard for the team today and kept the ball on the deck with some great moves at times. The weather was bad with really windy conditions and rain. Ross Celtic got the first goal half-way through the first half from a set piece on the right hand side of the field. Evan Marshall whipped in a beauty of a ball to the back post where Conor Purcell nodded home. 1 nil to the Celts. Cloughbawn kept pressuring but no clear chances came. Second Half. Danielus had to leave for another match, so Modestas took on the role of shotstopper for the second half. Shane Hayden came on. Ross Celtic started playing even better the second half with some nice 1-2 play. Mid-way through the second half Evan Marshall slipped David Lyster through on goal where he finished it superbly with a side foot pushed into the left bottom corner. (Happy he was after hitting the post on a one on one just minutes before. Cloughbawn pressured more but couldn’t convert. All subs got a game and Celtic won 2 nil on the day and it could have been more.
