New Ross Celtic Soccer Skills for Kids

New Ross Celtic is currently running a soccer academy for three to seven year olds every Saturday morning from 11am to 12 noon on its Astro Turf pitches.

The cost is only 2 euro per child and it gives the oppurtunity for children to see what is involved in training and are also shown simple techniques such as warm ups, passing, shooting, dribbling, while allowing plenty of time for them to enjoy themselves and mix with other children their own age.

Update 16th April 2016...The ever successful Saturday Soccer Club has been continually running every Saturday morning from 11am to 12 weather permitting with good numbers continually turning up. We continue to see new faces joining regularly at a very young age as this session is geared towards 3 to 6 year olds. The main aim of the club is to let these kids experience the fun side of soccer while also getting introduced to skills and coaching drills that will be used in more detail as they progress to the under age teams. The Saturday soccer club is open to both girls and boys as the club has under age teams for both groups. This successful initiative has been running for over four years now and our current under 9 boys squad and under 10 girls squad have extremely large numbers with most of the players having progressed from this coaching session.

If your child is interested in joining, just bring them along any Saturday morning or contact any club member or Robert on 087-4158437.

Update 17th March 2015...It's been a while since we have given any update but you can be sure that the Saturday soccer club is still going strong and has continued all year round since it's inception back in February 2012. We have had another successful winter with very few sessions having to be called off due to the weather. At this stage we have moved many of our kids on to our under 9 squad to play in the BIG LEAGUE...but these have been replaced by many more young Celts who want to emulate the success of the players who have gone before them.

We have just participated in another New Ross St Patrick's day parade and despite the miserable weather on the day, we still had a great turn out with the young boys and girls delighted to get the chance to represent their club and show off their new hoodies that were given to each child by the club this week. This is a small token for the kids who have worked so hard over the past year participating in all the drills set out for them. Below are some photos from recent training sessions and from the 2015 parade.

Update 30th April 2013...The soccer kids club is still strong with a crowd of over 30 kids attending most sessions. They are enjoying the warm ups, drills, matches, but most of all the play time that is involved through out. Recently the kids walked in the New Ross St Patrick's Day Parade and all enjoyed the outing despite the rain on the day. The following are some pictures from another recent skills session.

Update 20th October 2012...For the kids taking part in our soccer kids club, today was a wonderful day for them all as they were presented with Hoodies for all their hard work during the many sessions they have all attended. The kids have been eagerly awaiting this gift and it was only with the great sponsorship from Tipperary Spring Water that we have been able to achieve this. On the day 27 children ranging in age from 3 to 7 were presented with these superb club crested hoodies as can be seen from the picture below. The Saturday club continues to be a great success and already is reaping its rewards with a couple of the children already having progressed through to our Under 10's team. Keep up the good work kids and remember the main aim of the Saturday club is to have fun and enjoy yourselves.
