club was originally formed in 1928 but had disbanded
by the end of the 20's as did the team during the 1940's
because of World War 2 and it wasn't until in 1967 that
a major push by Rossonians to produce a winning and
consistent formula that gave way to the present team.
Having played in the early days in the Waterford League for some 4 years they then joined the Wexford League and has since won every honour in Wexford Football Leagues including Youths several times over.
Since the inauguration of the Premier Division in 1982 the Senior team has dominated from the very beginning and in that season not only did they win in the Premier League but went on to join the cream of Irish junior soccer by winning the Leinster Junior Cup in a memorable final against Dingle United of Dublin at Tolka Park.
The moment which brought the Leinster Junior Cup to New Ross Celtic as Colm Ryan's penalty shot in extra time beats the diving Dingle goalie.

Since the formation of the Premier League, Ross Celtic has won it no less than 7 times and is currently the only Wexford team ever to have achieved the Leinster Junior Cup and reach the final of the FAI Junior Cup when in 1994 lost to a very strong Clonmel side at Cooke Park in Tipperary Town.

So we are glad to have an exciting development already started at Butlersland to further support our future success in these areas to the town of New Ross. It will
consist of 2 Playing Pitches( Floodlight) with an all Weather Training Area and Dressing Room-Showers Facility with ample Car Park spaces.
The future is looking very bright indeed
