Update 9th November 2009

THE FINAL of this year’s Ross Celtic A.F.C. Celebrity Wannabe competition will take place in the Brandon House Hotel on November 20.

The second heat took place last weekend in Corcoran’s Pub, the Irishtown, and that saw five more acts make it through to the final. As it turned out on Friday night all five acts that competed made it through to the final. However, there were some nail-biting moments earlier in the night and in the end the crowd was called upon to make the final call.

The acts competing included Ricky Cashin and Stephen O’Leary as ‘Bubbles Jackson’ with a rendition of ‘Put Your High Heels On’.
Anne St. Ledger performed ‘One Day In Your Life’ under the stage name of ‘Crystal’.
Jenny Kehoe (as Bernie Walsh) sang ‘Stand By Your Van’.
The political scene was represented by Cllr. Michael Sheehan who acted as Dead Or Alive while performing the monster 80s hit ‘You Spin Me Around’.
The final act on the night was Hot & Cold composed of Helen, Nicola, Sarah and Danellia.

The judges included Terry Brennan, Mark ‘Gooey’ O’Connor and Dep. Sean Connick.
After each act performed, the judges gave their considered opinions on how each one could improve if they made it to the final.
The two acts with the fewest votes had to sing again before the judges and they were ‘Crystal’ and Hot & Cold.
Such was the quality of both performances that the judges were unable to separate them and then it was left up to the judges to decide. In the end the decision was made to allow both acts through.

The final promises to be a night of high excitement and drama.

Tickets, priced €10, are currently on sale and the fun begins at 9.30 p.m on the 20th Novemeber in the Brandon house hotel.
